Such a special day to be in this big, dirty, glorious city. Happy International Women's Day! Praying my girls get to grow up in a world where they are considered equals to all people- not just men, but to everyone. And that if they don't, that we can teach them to be strong, smart and kind in the face of inequality.

Happy belated half-birthday my sweet angel! I can't believe you've reached this milestone so quickly- I feel like we've literally blinked and here you are, half a year old! We named you perfectly- you are LIVELY in every sense of the word and are already proving to be a passionate little soul. You are sweet and sensitive and wonderful and already your big sister's biggest fan. Was there ever a time you weren't in our family? I can't remember. Love you to the moon, little bit.

I've had a great week with these beach bums, but I'm heading back home tomorrow with a heavy heart for some dear friends who are going through some extremely difficult times. I'm striving for more transparency in social media, and it's a good reminder that behind every smiling photo is a story. When the comparison thief comes to steal your joy, remember that nothing is ever exactly as it seems.

Im currently sitting on a plane waiting to fly out of D.C. and I can't help but think what weird times we're living in right now. Not only are we at the edge of what feels like a supreme culture shift, but there seems to be a very palpable tension simmering underneath the surface that could easily turn into a full rolling boil at any moment. But in this moment, I am nothing but grateful- for like minded teammates and friends, for family that helped out so much with babies so we could come meet and connect with some amazing humans, for the generous donations that allowed us to get here, and mostly for a peace that comes from Christ alone. As 1/12 of this ALREADY VERY WEIRD YEAR is coming to a close, I can't help but be excited about what could be ahead and what it will look like to be back here next year. We've heard some amazing stories and seen God work in amazing ways. And for now, we will stand at the edge and watch and wait for whatever He is planning next.
